On a delightfully grey Tuesday morning, the RDGC launched early trials of a temporary aerial test path stretching directly over the sacred links of Royal Dornoch Golf Club's Championship Course.

Highlights of the Flight:

• The Flight Path: A colourful caravan of gondola cabins glided smoothly at roughly the height of a well-struck three-wood.
• Mind the Gap: Engineers assure golfers that the cabin spacing is "generous." Players need only wait for a gap in the overhead traffic before teeing off.
• Rub of the Green: Should a stray golf ball strike a moving cabin, it is officially ruled a "rub of the green" and played exactly as it lies. One ambitious test shot holed out from an open cabin, though it was later disallowed.
